Last weekend was a great weekend for GHCDS. First, our booth entry in the K-12 Educational Display contest won the Blue Ribbon. Our success was due to the hard work of the teachers, students, and, especially, Ms. Suenita Banwaree. I hope you had the chance to visit the booth, as it was truly outstanding. Thanks to the volunteers who served as hosts.

The GHCDS Caribbean Art Exhibition was held at the GHS Campus Center last weekend. It, too, was a wonderful success. The artists appreciated the opportunity to sell some pieces and contribute 40% of their sales to our scholarship fund. Congratulations to Linda Stamper-Keularts and Kiomie Pedrini for organizing the event, and thanks to the countless volunteers who helped make it a success.

Congratulations to Cory Bishop, a GHS Alumni and son of our wonderful librarian, Ms. Bishop. Cory was recently featured in an online magazine, Live Inspired. It’s a good article that profiles a very impressive young man. I’ve included the link for your reading pleasure.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GHCDS WINNERS OF POETRY OUT LOUD: Yuryssa Lewis took first place and won $100.00.  Second place and a check for $75 went to Sylvana Hutchins and Ericson Etienne came in third and earned a $50 award.  We had almost 30 participants and the competition was outstanding. Kudos to all who participated and made this a super event!  Yuryssa will go on to compete in the territorial competition and a chance to win a trip to Washington DC.

The St. Croix Dolphins Swim Team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the 2014 SCAT Georgia Open Swim Meet from February 15-16.  The competition was attended by 30 different teams from around Georgia.  Dolphins attending the competition were: Lidia Boguslawska (12), Webster Bozzo (14), Jean Devera (17), Lex Devlin (16), Daniel Garriga-Cerni (14), Chloe Phillips-Hayden (14), Tony Hendricks (16), Nati Kuipers (11), Alex Lewit (17), Matthew Mays (15), Jonathan Thomas (15), Jelena Vialet (13), and JJ Washshah (16).  Each of these swimmers competed in three events per day for two days during the preliminary session, with many qualifying and competing in the finals sessions at night.  Twelve of the thirteen swimmers attend The Good Hope Country Day School.
