Dear Alumni:

As the end of the school year nears, I wanted to invite you to donate to the Good Hope Country Day School’s Annual Fund, the backbone of our fundraising initiatives and a critical part of our efforts to provide students following in your footsteps with a world-class education here on beautiful St. Croix.

To help you understand the importance of the Annual Fund, I am including a link to testimonials (click here), a snapshot of a few of our graduates (below), and a link to our 2015-16 Annual Report in the event you have not already seen it. I am also attaching an update on my 2016-17 Head of School Goals (GHCDS Update May 2017). It’s been a busy year!

For better or worse, alumni participation in the Annual Fund is often viewed as a barometer of school quality. This is why the top private boarding and day schools in the United States will routinely boast of alumni participation rates above 50%. Last year we received a record 123 gifts from alumni in Annual Fund contributions (unrestricted and restricted) to bolster our $4.5M budget, which includes nearly $1M in financial aid and tuition assistance. This year we hope to beat that number by securing as many gifts as possible from our 2,000+ graduates scattered around the globe.  I hope you will consider making a gift online (click here) or by mailing us your gift with the bangtail (click here)—this year alone we have received donations from $5 to over $50,000. Every gift counts!

Lastly, I hope to see some of you at our first-ever Miami alumni reception this weekend!

Many thanks for your support!

Kari Loya,  Head of School

Our Graduates

“Good Hope Country Day School provided me an accepting place to work, play and everything in between,” says Cereyna. “I found my passion for the performing arts and learned from some of the best!  Working to develop my personal and artistic potential empowered me to audition for a role in the Broadway production of Hamilton.  I continue to use the skills I learned and was the only freshman cast in Loyola University’s production of “The House That Will Not Stand !” Thank you Good Hope Country Day School! “ ~ Cereyna Bougouneau, GHCDS ‘16

“At Good Hope Country Day School, the students, faculty, staff, and leadership are the foundations of our community.  It is a community defined by respect, trust, hard work, and a willingness to support each other” says Joey. Playing soccer and learning to sail helped build my character,  taught me the importance of discipline and hard work, and gave me lifelong friendships with teammates and coaches. It also helped pave the way for a successful future.  My successes on the field and in academics helped me gain admission into the US Airforce Academy.  Thank you Good Hope Country Day School! ~ Joseph Lanclos, GHCDS ‘14

“Good Hope Country Day School provided a supportive community, rigorous academics, new opportunities, and a place to learn and grow,” says Kira.  Leadership roles in the National Honor Society and Student Council helped build my character and taught me the importance of discipline and hard work. I am confident to enter college because I am well prepared.  My focus and academic achievements helped me gain admission into Yale, Stanford, Harvard, and other great institutions, including the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where I will be attending as a Chancellor’s Science Scholar.  Thank you Good Hope Country Day School! ~ Kira Griffith, GHCDS ‘17
