Evangelista Named Board Chair

Dear GHCDS community,

It is my privilege to share with you that the GHCDS Board of Trustees named Richard (Ricky) Evangelista, Esq., Chair of the Board during its April meeting on Tuesday.

A St. Croix native, graduate of Good Hope School, and longtime attorney in the US Virgin Islands, Mr. Evangelista has served the people of St. Croix and the territory in a variety of roles for more than two decades.  

A member of Gov. Albert Bryan’s cabinet since 2019, Mr. Evangelista is Commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs (DLCA). Prior appointments include service as Chief Counsel of the VI Department of Justice’s Paternity and Child Support Division, General Counsel and acting CEO of the Governor Juan F. Luis Hospital & Medical Center, Senior Policy Advisor for the Office of the Governor, Assistant Commissioner for the VI Department of Labor, and Legal Counsel for the VI Public Employees Relations Board.

A graduate of American University and Howard University School of Law, Mr. Evangelista has served on the GHCDS Board of Trustees since 2014, most recently as Secretary. Prior to that, he was a trustee of Good Hope School.  
Mr. Evangelista and his wife Wanda (also a graduate of Good Hope School) have a daughter, Alessandra, who graduated from GHCDS in 2021.

“I look forward to working with everyone as one T.E.A.M. to ensure GHCDS is the finest educational institution for the children of St. Croix,” Mr. Evangelista said. “Together Everyone Achieves More.”
