This Week in Sports

Hi Panther Families!

It’s been a great tip off week for elementary basketball! Our girls and boys showed great promise in their first games. We didn’t win, but we played really well! All our other levels of basketball are starting on the 25th and the 28th. Please see the schedule below for your player’s specific information. Participation fees are as follows for basketball: Elementary $35, Middle School and JV $30 and Varsity $40. Important information: All middle school, JV and Varsity players will need to play games through Mini Gusto week. When making selections, please keep that in mind.

Ozzy Odom is ready for today’s elementary game at Free Will Baptist! Go Panthers!

Track and Field should have meets this week! We’re waiting for confirmation on track usage, but we want all our runners to be prepared for an elementary meet on Thursday, and JV & Varsity on Friday.

Sailing news! We love it when our burgee (that’s a pennant in sailing speak) shines in the top five! Even better, we came in fourth overall!

Our sailors, Jeffrey Klempen, Lucy Klempen, Elyssa Franklin and Mathieu Dale did a great job in Miami last weekend in South Points #4! Here is what chaperone, Megan Littlefield reported about their successful trip: “The GHCDS Varsity Sailing Team traveled to Miami Florida this past weekend to compete in the South Points #4 regatta held at Ransom Everglades High School in Coconut Grove Florida. The weather was perfect for sailing, sunny and with winds around 15 to 20 knots, which decreased to 10 to 15 knots as the day went on. More than 25 teams participated across both varsity and junior varsity teams. Each team participated in 6 races per division, all on 420 class boats. Sailors did an excellent job on the water and during the rotations, navigating the narrow canal to the dock with ease. Our GHCDS Varsity team sailing in A division skipper Mathieu Dale, crew Lucy Klempen and B division skipper JJ Klempen and crew Elyssa Franklin did a stellar job holding their own in this very competitive Varsity fleet finishing 4th overall!” Go Panthers!
