2nd Graders learned all about Lunar New Year this week! From the zodiacs to the traditions, students were excited to learn about a different culture. It was especially meaningful since our chapter book, Year of the Dog, has led us to many discussions about Chinese traditions and what it means to be Asian-American.
This is how we do it! Having a blast and doing it safely! Makari sets to Croix, he hits below, and yes, that’s a hot pink monkey on Shana’s back, and it’s about to take a ride with her! Many thanks to Coach Floyd and Coach Anderson for running this activity, and to parents and players for support and great play!
Under the leadership of Hanan Hamed and Roxy Wallace, student council celebrated Valentine’s Day Distribution of personalized cards for every upper school student. During the week prior, fundraising efforts included selling carnations and candy grams that were distributed on Thursday. One of the most supported traditions of the year is the “WIN A DATE” featuring three senior students that volunteer to be lunch dates for a day. Raffle tickets are sold to upper school students and the winners participate in a luncheon sponsored by Student Council.
This year Narauni Persaud, Mathieu Dale and Marcus Curran volunteered to be the “WIN A DATE” contestants. Winners of the raffle included Mariam Hamed, Koa Alexander and Shana Sargeant. Due to Covid policies, the luncheon was held out doors with social distancing implemented. Special thanks to Opher Hasson for volunteering to be the waiter during the luncheon. It was great to see smiles, hear laughter, and spread the love for all in Upper School this week.
