Evaporation and Starting Seeds

The Early Learning Center is learning about water and lifecycles. They are learning about water evaporation and check their cups of water every day to see how much has evaporated. They have planted some seeds and are watering the everyday.

Eighth Grade Spanish

Eighth grade students created detailed flags and informational brochures of Spanish-speaking countries as part of their cultural studies in Spanish class; they shared the information with their classmates.

Growing Our Diversity Library

Upper School club Melanin Magic accomplished one of their goals for the school year by donating books to the library. Black Enough: Stories of Being Young & Black in America by Ibi Zoboi, Changing the Equation by Tonya Bolden, and Magnificent Homespun Brown: A Celebration by Samara Cole Doyon. Lower School Morning Assembly

Congratulations to Ms. Deevy’s first grade class who treated us to a wonderful rendition of the VI March and taught us about the bossy R in their creative letter presentation.

Learning to Swim!

GHCDS ELC students and Coach Amy are so fortunate to have Coach Brian Brady of the St. Croix Dolphins, for a second year, leading intermediate and advanced swim classes! He makes skill work fun and challenging!

Building For Earthquakes

Environmental Science students work together to design and build the best earthquake proof structure.  The students used straws, cardboard, paper clips, string and straight pins.  They tested their structures by using sandbag mini weights and a vibrating stir plate.

Floating Eggs

Marine Biology students complete an egg flotations density lab.   They determined the minimum amount of salt required to float an egg.

Casting Footprints

Forensic science students prepare to cast their first footprint using the Miami Dade Casting Technique.  They framed in the print and will cast it in the days coming.  After the print hardens, student will lift and clean it.  Final step of the process involves matching the print to a shoe on campus!

Creating Rainbows

GHCDS fourth grade created a few rainbows in Science. We learned that rainbows are created when the sun’s light is refracted through prisms (or raindrops/water) and breaks into its various colors. Roy G. Biv!

Seventh Grade P.E. Trivia

Seventh grade P.E. students engage in a trivia game. The game included topics such as sports, animals, and board games. Pictured: Bella McCarthy- Davis and Riley Miller up for their question.
