This week there has been an uptick in student absences and office visits due to cold-like symptoms, especially in lower school students. While we are moving towards covid being endemic and we recognize variants will continue to arise, we need to continue the most important precautions like staying home and covid testing when symptomatic. When students are absent due to cold-like symptoms a covid test is required to return to campus. Please submit covid testing results to ccooper@ghcds.org. In the unfortunate event your child does contract covid, it is better to know sooner rather than later; do not delay testing! In the event of a positive result, a delay in testing only prolongs the time away from school. We ask that students stay home when they are symptomatic, even when they test negative for covid, because the spread of cold viruses in our classrooms causes other families to be impacted (as well as our teachers, causing an interruption to learning for an entire class)! Though we can not eradicate colds, we can minimize the impact they have on our school community.
Lower School Theatre Club performed a skit called Night Crew by Debra A. Cole at Friday Gathering. This show tells the story of 10 characters having a scheduling meeting to decide when they’re able to visit Megan’s bedroom in order to do their jobs. Cast Members: Avery Adams, Aliya Delande, Carmen Robinson, Diella Maynard, Mackenzie Lawrence, Miles Kantowski, Sophie Fitzgerald, William Gentilucci, Yiha Cruz, and Zyrie Denbow. Give them a big round of applause for their hard work!
Lower School RUN CLUB warriors completed our six week after school program with a bang! Many special charms were earned for every mile walked, jogged, skipped, or sprinted!
4th grade has started a new Science unit all about sound! We kicked off this first week by exploring the connection between sound and vibration.
We wrapped up our 1st through 3rd grade after school activity this week with a balloon toss and popsicles!
