Yoav Hayut is from Ann Arbor, MI, and is a music educator and ethnomusicologist. After receiving his Bachelors at Indiana University, he is excited to teach a variety of music classes in the Lower School and 7th/8th grade choir at Good Hope Country Day School. While he has learned to play most instruments, he has been playing violin for close to 18 years, and teaching for over 10. He hopes to bring the joy of music to students at GHCDS, and really engage with what students will commonly be listening to at home in the classroom. As a performer, he has played at Lincoln Center, the Musical Arts Center at Indiana University, Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor, and the Nobel Center in Stockholm to name a few.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Hayut enjoys reading, going for walks, playing table top role play and video games, and cooking. He began work on an ongoing ethnomusicological study on Jewish cantors and gender as his bachelor’s capstone project, and looks forward to engaging with the culture of St. Croix.
