Middle School STEM: Empowering Tomorrow's Innovators

STEM

Embark on a dynamic mathematical journey in Middle School at Good Hope Country Day School, where we use the Cambridge International Integrated Math curriculum to ignite a passion for mathematics in 7th and 8th graders. This spiraling curriculum exposes students to various mathematical skills, integrating various topics and strands each year. Integrated mathematics is at the core of our approach, seamlessly weaving Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and functions into each secondary school math course. The exposure to real-world applications of Algebra, combined with Statistics and Geometry, enhances students' understanding, instilling deeper meaning and number sense. This holistic approach lays a robust foundation for smooth transitions to college mathematics, ensuring our students are well-equipped for future academic endeavors.

In Middle School Science, we embrace a hands-on and immersive approach, combining life science, chemistry, and physics using the Cambridge International Stage 8 and 9 Lower Secondary curriculums. Our students not only learn scientific principles but also cultivate the mindset and skills of a scientist. Through research, experimentation, collaborative projects, and exploration of the local environment, students engage in the scientific process authentically. The Middle School Science curriculum culminates in the STEM Fair project, where students showcase their independent research and presentation skills, solidifying their understanding of basic and foundational elements of independent research and experimentation.

Join us at GHCDS Middle School, where the exploration of mathematics and science is not just about equations and theories but a hands-on and dynamic experience that prepares students for a future where they can confidently navigate the ever-evolving landscape of STEM disciplines.
