A Beautiful Gift of Reflection!

Beloved retired fourth-grade teacher from Good Hope Country Day School, Mrs. Daisy Pelovitz, delighted her former students with a heartfelt surprise. She mailed them a cherished assignment from their fourth-grade days—a letter they had written to their future selves as high school seniors!

As the now-seniors read their letters, they were amused and reflective, reminiscing about their younger selves and what was important to them back then. Each letter was accompanied by a photo of the student and a mention of a personal artifact that held significance at the time.

Kirra Mason asked her future self if she was still taking care of her brother Mason—and was delighted to answer, "Yes, I do!" Salma wrote that her best friends in fourth grade were Kirra and Morgan Garner, and she giggled at how this remains true today. Fourth-grade Nathan shared in his letter that he thought math class was boring—a memory that brought a few chuckles to the group. Candace asked her future self if she was "still awesome," to which she confidently responded, "YES!" Nico laughed at his fourth-grade self’s question: “Do you still live on St. Croix?” and joyfully answered, "Obviously, I do!"

This touching moment reminded everyone of the growth and the bonds that have remained strong over the years. It was a beautiful walk down memory lane and a perfect way to reflect on how far they’ve come.
