This morning, Good Hope Country Day School observed a moment of silence, accompanied by a moving performance of Taps by music teachers Stan Joines on trumpet and Yoav Hayut on violin, to honor the lives lost on September 11th, 2001. This day marks one of the most tragic events in American history, when nearly 3,000 people perished in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93. It is a time for us to reflect on the bravery and sacrifice of first responders, as well as the resilience and unity that emerged in the aftermath.
At GHCDS, different grade levels approached this day in meaningful ways, with lessons and discussions tailored to help our students understand the significance of 9/11 and why we continue to remember. Whether through classroom discussions, reading reflections, or moments of personal reflection, we emphasized the importance of honoring the past and the impact of community and compassion.
