Linda Yoder was a beloved icon in the Country Day School and GHCDS communities for thirty years. Serving as a Lower School teacher, mentor, and Dean of Lower School, she inspired countless students with her encouragement and positivity. Following the refinery closure in 2012, she returned to the classroom, continuing to shape young lives. After Hurricane Maria, Linda moved to the mainland to live with her daughter, Kelly Smith.
Tragically, Hurricane Helene recently destroyed Linda’s home near Asheville, NC. Rising river levels flooded their house, moving it off its foundation, with their cars floating away and their belongings buried in mud.
Linda has always had a heart of gold, putting others before herself. Now, it’s her turn to receive the support she so deserves. She is currently staying with Eileen Hill (another St. Croix native) outside of Atlanta, GA, as she works to rebuild her life from scratch. Insurance funds may help eventually, but for now, they have nothing.
Any contributions to help Linda during this difficult time would be deeply appreciated. The best ways to send support directly to her include:
- Venmo: Kelly Smith @kay3287
- Zelle: [email protected]
- Mail: Kelly Smith c/o Eileen Hill, 4390 Red Rock Point, Suwanee, GA 30024
Additionally, Jane Coles will consolidate cash donations and send them to Ms. Yoder, and Ms. Alma has an envelope at the front desk for those wishing to contribute in person.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity in helping Linda rebuild.
