In honor of Veterans Day, Ms. Laurie Bohlke, a United States Air Force veteran and GHCDS fifth-grade teacher, visited our Pre-Kindergarten class. Ms. Bohlke shared the meaning behind Veterans Day, explaining that it is a day to honor and thank those who have served in the military, protecting our freedoms and supporting our country.
The children were thrilled to see Ms. Bohlke’s various uniforms and medals, gaining a glimpse into the dedication and bravery required in military service. Ms. Bohlke also taught them the military salute and how to stand at attention and at ease, giving the young students a hands-on understanding of military respect and discipline.
To show their gratitude, the class presented Ms. Bohlke with a heartfelt thank-you card, expressing appreciation for her service. Veterans Day is an important reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve, and by honoring veterans, we recognize their courage, commitment, and the freedoms they help preserve for us all.
Thank you for your service, Mrs. Bohlke!
