A Day in the Life of Head of School: First Grader Wadee Abdallah

On Thursday, January 23, Wadee Abdallah, a bright and enthusiastic first grader at Good Hope Country Day School, stepped into a big role as Head of School for a Day—and he tackled his duties with charm and determination!

Wadee began his morning with a warm smile, greeting families and students as they arrived at the upper school stairs. Like any great leader, he followed this with a walk around the Upper School, making sure everything was in tip-top shape and even wishing a few lucky students a happy birthday!

His day quickly filled with “important business,” starting with a meeting in the Advancement office. Wadee, ever the advocate for his peers, proposed increasing recess time—an idea we suspect had unanimous support from the student body!

Next, Wadee met with the Director of Technology, where conversations about computers and gaming sparked excitement and curiosity.

But it wasn’t all fun and games—he had real responsibilities to handle. One of Wadee’s most serious duties was paying the bills, which meant meeting with the Director of Finance and signing a few checks like a seasoned professional.

Lunch was a productive affair as well, where Wadee gathered with some peers over cheese pizza to discuss matters of “great importance.” His leadership skills shone as he even conducted an interview with a job candidate, asking all the right questions.

The day took an unexpected turn when Wadee had to address a disciplinary matter, stepping into his role with confidence to handle an Upper School student caught with an unauthorized cell phone in class. With grace and fairness, Wadee set the tone for a day of responsibility and respect.

To wrap up his busy day, Head of School Wadee ended on a high note with a special announcement that thrilled the entire campus: infinite recess for the rest of the day! Cheers erupted as Wadee proved he truly understood the heart of his school community.

It was a day full of smiles, leadership, and unforgettable memories for everyone at GHCDS. Well done, Mr. Wadee—your time as Head of School will go down in history!
