Last week, our second graders took center stage during their special Chinese New Year Friday Gathering, dazzling the audience with their enthusiasm and knowledge!
In class, they explored the rich history and global traditions of Chinese New Year, uncovering the symbolism behind this 15-day festival. They learned about:
- The tradition of Hong Bao—red envelopes often filled with money, symbolizing good luck and prosperity.
- The meaning behind traditional New Year foods and their connection to fortune and longevity.
- The art of Chinese calligraphy, practicing the character “fu” (福), meaning “good fortune”, like experts!
This year’s zodiac sign, the Snake, represents transformation and new beginnings—themes our students embraced in their learning. A special highlight of the celebration was their Chinese New Year song performance, presented in collaboration with Mr. Hayut.
Happy Year of the Snake!
