GHCDS 2nd-grade writers and their 6th-grade reading buddies came together for a fantastic celebration of their Informational Writing projects!
Students researched and wrote about fascinating topics such as Martin Luther King Jr., lion vs. tiger comparisons, coral reefs, and jellyfish, then shared their work in small outdoor discussion groups.
The 6th graders came prepared with thoughtful questions and insightful feedback, fostering meaningful discussions and encouraging their younger buddies. As a special twist, they also shared the beginnings of their own "flash fiction" short stories, giving the 2nd graders a sneak peek into their creative writing.
The celebration wrapped up with light snacks and smiles all around, making for a fun, engaging, and rewarding collaboration in reading, writing, and mentorship!
