GHCDS is incredibly proud to announce that Maya Prasad, an 11th-grade student, has won the VI Council of the Arts Poetry Out Loud competition! Maya delivered a stunning performance, showcasing not only her lyrical talent but also her exceptional dramatic stage presence. Over the course of three rounds, Maya secured first place and represented both GHCDS and the Virgin Islands with immense pride and skill.
Her lyrical choices and compelling delivery truly reflected her passion for the art form. Despite stiff competition from schools across the territory, Maya rose to the top, and we couldn’t be more thrilled for her!
I would also like to recognize the contributions of our amazing students, Lena Kammerzelt (9th grade) and Olivia Locher (8th grade). Lena did a wonderful job managing the front of the house, greeting guests, and Olivia expertly handled the light and sound booth. Their professionalism and support demonstrated the remarkable skills of our students and the strength of our drama department.
Maya will now be heading to Nationals, and we are all excited to see how she continues to represent GHCDS and the Virgin Islands on this larger stage.
