Our 2nd-Grade Scientists Dig into Canyon Formation!

This week, our curious 2nd-grade scientists embarked on an exciting hands-on investigation to explore how canyons are formed.

They began by making thoughtful hypotheses about what causes canyons to take shape. Then, using cornmeal to create model landforms, they observed how a slow, steady drip of water could gradually carve and reshape the landscape—just like in nature!

Through this engaging experiment, students discovered how the persistent force of water over time can create dramatic landforms like canyons, deepening their understanding of erosion and natural change.

Science in action—and messy, meaningful learning at its best!
